Recent German Retention Law Decision Fuels More Privacy and Information Security Debate

Sometimes we get caught up in a very nation-centric view of the world. 

In the USA, from time to time, many business entities and individuals struggle with the requirements of the USA Patriot Act and what records have to be maintained, and by whom and for how long.  

So it was with special interest for our readers that we post an article recently written by Melissa Eddy and Verna Schmitt-Roschmann, and published by the Associated Press, about a German Data-Retention Law being overturned.   Germany’s Federal Constitutional Court overturned a law allowing authorities to retain data on telephone calls and e-mails for 6 months.
