Risk management and business continuity risk strategy planning teams can add a recent article written by John Mark V. Tuazon to their reading resource list to perhaps update their information regarding the average cost of downtime for U.S. small and mid-sized businesses.  According to a recent study conducted by Applied Research and commissioned by the IT security firm Symantec, that average cost per day is U.S. $14,500 per day whenever disaster strikes and causes downtime for those businesses.
