As part of our website’s mission to make its readership more aware of cybersecurity issues and developments that may have an effect on the continuity or the compliance requirements of an organization or an individual, we would like to bring your attention to a newly discovered “cyber superweapon” called “Stuxnet”.

In a recent posting on the Homeland Security NewsWire website, you can read all about the Stuxnet worm malware which is claimed to be a wake-up call to governments around the world and also claimed to be the first known worm to target industrial control systems.

According to this posting — “This malware is specially designed to sabotage plants and damage industrial systems, instead of stealing personal data,” an engineer surnamed Wang at antivirus service provider Rising International Software told the Global Times.

If you find this information valuable, please pass it along to the network security compliance, data network security or network security management team members in your organization.
